Since we're on the subject of amazing rock festivals in the middle of nowhere (sorry, I'm an ex-New Yorker now living in L.A., so maybe I'm a little biased;)), there's one coming up October 6th at the Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend, Indiana that makes me wish I could justify flying to Indiana in the middle of the semester (just before my birthday, too!). MelodicRock.com are having a 10 year anniversary concert, featuring Nashville's All-Star Scrap Metal which includes such great musicians as Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger), Gunnar & Matthew Nelson (Nelson), Mark Slaughter (Slaughter) Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Dave Marshall (Vince Neil Band) and Gary Corbett (Lou Gramm Band/Cinderella).
The show will also feature Very Special Guests:
Jim Peterik (ex-Survivor, Pride Of Lions)
Jack Blades (Night Ranger, Damn Yankees, Shaw Blades)
Jimi Jamison (ex-Survivor)
Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, ex-Journey, who I recently saw him with twice, and both times were amazing)
Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Sunstorm)
Joe Vana (Mecca)
and Michael Eden (Eden's Curse)
playing songs from Night Ranger, Slaughter, Nelson, Mr. Big, and more!
And if THAT wasn't enough they'll also be joined by Harem Scarem, Kevin Chalfant, the Martie Peters Group, 7th Heaven, and more.
Just look at the sheer number of links to existing pages on this site to see why I'm seriously tempted to fly out for this one! In the middle of the semester (and only a couple of weeks before my *mumblemumble* high school reunion in NY) I'm not sure I'll be able to manage the trip, but who knows. If you can make it however, I highly recommend it! |
